Zeolitic ice, a transition to green energy

This illustration was created for the article Zeolitic ice: A route toward net zero emissions in the Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews journal.

Zeolitic ice, or clathrate hydrates, are eco-friendly materials that can play an important part in transition toward green energy. Those ice cages enclose gases such as methan, dihydrogen or carbon dioxyde and are an efficient solution for energy storage and CCS (carbon capture and sequestration).
