This illustration was created for the publication of the article A Computational Insight of Guest Exchange Mechanism between CH4 and CO2 in sI Clathrate: CH4 Recovery and CO2 Storage Opportunities. It presents the principle of gas exchange between methane and CO2 in natural hydrate reservoirs in the ocean and its positive environmental impact. This research highlights the mechanism of double occupation and expansion of these ice cages as part of the exchange of gaseous molecules.
