Hi ! I am Cassandra
and I'm a scientific illustrator
What led me to this unusual profession?
In high school, it was difficult for me to choose between scientific and artistic studies… I have always been curious about science and how it can be applied, with a keen interest in medicine. However, I also had a strong interest in drawing and comic books, which I already read eagerly.
After a great deal of thought, I finally decided to go into applied arts and graphic design after high school, and I was lucky enough to start this journey at Olivier de Serres school of art in Paris.
It was during Estienne art school open days that I came accross the scientific illustration course. Really?! It is possible to combine art and science to share a wide range of knowledge?!
To this day, this is what delights me most about my job. Each project is a true collaboration with specialists, a new opportunity to discover and embrace knowledge, and to put my graphic design expertise at the service of transmission. Whether it involves explaining things to children or promoting exchange between experts, the ongoing adaptability my job requires is what makes it so enriching.
Medicine, botany, biology, IT, anthropology, chemistry, physics… Whatever your field is, I’d be delighted to work alongside you to bring your projects to life.
Steps in a project
You contact me and we discuss all aspects of the subject so that I can better understand your expectations.
I give you a first estimate. If you’re satisfied, we move on!
First step: sketches! I send you my design proposals to validate the creative direction and layout of the illustrations.
If necessary, we adapt, correct and modify these sketches to suit you 100%!
Once validated, it’s off to finalise the project! I clean and color the illustrations, refine the layout…
Together, we check the final small changes needed to make your project perfect!
Everything in order? I then send you the final artwork, the last invoice and the copyright transfer. Now that’s a job well done!
